Marc H. Shaffer - Director Business Development and International Sales & Marketing Manager

Marc Shaffer was born and raised in Massachusetts. He attended college at Northeastern University, the University of Massachusetts, Rhode Island School of Design and Tulane University.

He spent the past 35+ years in marketing, 24 of which were as a consultant in the Development and Marketing of Interactive On-line Services. These consisted of eCommerce and Community Development, Consumer and Government Relations and the Development and Deployment of High-speed, On-line Entertainment Services. Marc has been at the forefront of the now rapidly emerging online eCommerce and Entertainment Industry. Starting with the Videotext Industry Association (VIA) as a founding member in 1984, he was involved in the earliest online attempts at interactive services. When the VIA was reformed into the Interactive Services Association (ISA) in 1992, Mr. Shaffer became a member of the Board of Directors. While serving on the Board of ISA (5 terms), he came into peer contact with many industry leaders. The insight he gained from this diverse peer group has helped shaped and guide his directions over the past 18 years.

Marc found an opportunity to create HostAndStream, Inc. just over 5 years ago. Due to his extensive relationships spanning more than 3 decades, he was able to help the Company acquire space for servers, garner access to large bandwidth pipes and equipment assets for significantly less then the going market rates. Thusly, he has built a low overhead, fully automated 24/7 Hosting and Streaming Media operation. This has allowed HostAndStream to capitalize on the paucity of reliable providers and take business from those who were failing or faltering. Additionally, since it is a totally automated operation, H&S is able to do more things more economically than many of its older competitors, effectively shutting them out of certain market segments.

After scouring BellSouth and AT&T Seniors Marc was able to assemble a top flight Management Team and together they acquired what was needed to develop US DataVault as a wholly owned Division of HostAndStream, Inc. As a further means of capitalizing on HostAndStream's Band Width and Rack Space capabilities through its available US and European high speed network.

Using the H&S marketing and operating models, he developed US DataVault to be the premier Data Backup service in the compliance mandated off-site data storage and retrieval industry. USDV now has over 600 Agent/Reps in North America, including Tiger Direct and PC Mall, and is moving forward.

Khena Kara - COO
Born in Paris, France and part Italian, Khena Kara moved to the US at age 15 where he lived in Chicago, IL for 9 years. Khena graduated from Elmhurst College of Illinois in 1989.
Khena has been involved with computers since he got his first in 1983. He immediately became immersed and took courses in computer programming in school.

Having been involved in the Internet since 1993, Khena saw the emerging technology as an incredible new way for people to communicate and knew that it would grow beyond anyone's expectations. To that end, he started learning web design programming and began to create web sites for local businesses.

In 1997, he was hired by ISDN.Net as their Webmaster where he refined his skills and expanded his knowledge to include networking, high-speed Internet connectivity, Internet security (Firewalls), and Co-Location. A short 2½ years later, BellSouth recruited him as Internet Business Manager. At BellSouth, he lead a team of 15 Account Executives who handled approximately 5,000 businesses in KY and TN. As BellSouth's regional Internet solutions expert, he helped businesses find the best Internet solutions to meet their needs. Services included High Speed Internet access (from fractional DS1 to OC192), Firewalls, VPN, Co-Location Services, web hosting, e-commerce solutions, etc... He also became a member of team in charge of development and roll out of BellSouth's MPLS product set and Long Distance. He was also chosen to be the Bellsouth Representative to various meetings, such as Chamber of Commerce, Regional IT seminars and/or Technology Counsels, to present in front of small to large number of people various BellSouth services, and how BellSouth can help their business grow through using our products and services. BellSouth is well known for their excellent employee training, which helped him grow even further in his technology skills. He remained there for 4 years until he helped start HostAndStream.

After meeting Marc and and the senior management at HostAndStream, the combined experience seemed to be a perfect fit to build and operate a successful, stable and profitable Telecommunications business. Khena decided to join forces with Marc and the HostAndStream team to build a Hosting, Co-location, Data Recovery/Security and VoIP business second to none in the Industry. His main tasks as COO has been in developing new product sets, setting prices for all products and services company offered based on current costs, market rates, competition, and targeted percentage of profit, researching which product sets the company needs to provide to stay on the cutting edge of technology and current customer's needs, Researching hardware and software vendors for such products and services, and developing partnership with vendors, and/or negotiating best prices, and developed a smooth operations system for the company.

Khena is CCNA, Network +, and Linux + Certified.

Shannon Guthrie - Director Customer Relations & Client Finance Manager

Ms. Guthrie spent 13-years as team leader and head nurse in a rewarding nursing career. During those years, she was responsible for direct patient care and management of staff and facilities. She retired in 2001 for a new career challenge in the IT field. While attending ITT Technical Institute for Computer Networking and Development, she became involved in the creation of HostAndStream, Inc., as one of the founding members of this exciting new company. She has become a key team leader and has responsibility for all Client interaction and financial matters.
